RISO CLUB 100: Artist Edition Workshops + Events Archive

Type as Image Riso Workshop with Raissa Pardini → Sun 12 Apr

Sunday, April 12th 2026
Sold Out

Spend a full day with Raissa Pardini building a punchy, typography-led poster, then bringing it to life through multi-colour Risograph printing, as part of our RISO CLUB 100 programme.

This session is built around Raissa’s approach to Type as Image: using type as the main character, shaping a message you actually want to live with, then choosing the right font, layout and colour to make it land.

Part of RISO CLUB 100: an exhibition + live print programme celebrating 100 issues of RISOTTO's monthly print club.

You’ll start by choosing a short message and exploring how to make it speak visually through hierarchy, layout and type choice, with Raissa guiding you to match form to feeling. From there you’ll build a finished poster composition on your laptop, touching the full mix of graphic design decisions: typography, composition, colour and structure. In the afternoon we’ll prepare your artwork for riso and print a 2-colour edition through layered passes, with plenty of paper choice thanks to our GF Smith partnership.

The Session Will Cover…

+

You’ll begin with a short intro from Raissa drawn from her “Type as Image” approach, exploring how type becomes the main character of a project and what to look for when building a strong message-led poster. You’ll pick a short phrase to build a poster around, then test hierarchy through layout, font choice, composition and colour, refining it with Raissa’s guidance. After lunch we’ll move into production: preparing your artwork for riso. We'll help you choose a tight two colour ink palette designed to suit your message and make the typography sing. We'll test it on lots of different papers and backgrounds too.

What To Expect

+

This is a laptop-led workshop with a clear, guided brief. You’ll work towards a poster that communicates a message with confidence, using type, layout and colour in a way that feels intentional, bold and fun. Raissa will support everyone in finding the right typographic voice for what they want to say, then we’ll translate those designs into 2-colour riso printing with time for quick tests and tweaks. The goal is to leave with a finished edition, not a half-done file.

What You’ll Need

+

Please bring a laptop. Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator is ideal. If you use a different design tool, tell us and we’ll confirm it works with the workflow.
A charger for your laptop, and any favourite typefaces you’d like to use (we will also link you to some ace fonts!). Have a think about possible phrases, and bring a wee list with you if you can.
We’ll take a lunch break between 13:00–14:00. Bring lunch, or pop out locally.

Who It’s For
+

This workshop is ideal for designers, illustrators, artists, and anyone who loves typography and bold graphic outcomes. You don’t need prior riso experience, but you should be comfortable working on a laptop. If you want to make a poster that feels sharp, expressive and properly considered, this is for you.

Workshop Outcome

+

Each participant will print a 2 colour riso edition of their own typography-led poster, created during the session. You’ll also leave with a clearer understanding of poster hierarchy and how to use type, layout, colour and composition to communicate a message with impact.

Why Join?

+

Because it’s a rare chance to spend a full day making with Raissa Pardini, and to build a poster you genuinely want on your wall. Raissa’s work is instantly recognisable: bold, typographic, and colour-led, and this workshop is designed to pull you into that way of thinking through a guided, message-first brief. You’ll sharpen your graphic instincts, make stronger decisions faster, then print a finished 2-colour edition on beautiful papers. Expect big energy, a proper learning curve, and a final outcome you’ll actually keep.
