Risograph Postcard Set: Philadelphia

Ben Kopp is a Philadelphia-based illustrator and graphic designer. The jiggly typography, 70s characters and sugary colours in Ben’s poster design and illustration work harks back to the bubble type and cartoon portraits you might have seen drawn on school books in the days of disco. His colour palette of washed-out pastels and bright neon further cements the atmosphere of after-school cartoons and at-school character development. As well as his work with Urban Outfitters, Ben has been commissioned by Tumblr, Outkast and Girl Skateboards, amongst others, and assists artist Alex Da Corte.

An avid book collector and prolific image maker, Joel is an Art Director at Urban Outfitters in Philadelphia. Along with initiating and developing various publications for UO (amongst many other things), Evey’s side practice consists of various print and small run publication projects.
Joel got his popularity as an art director since working in Pixar. He now works for UO in which he created amazing graphics which included different elements like fonts and many graphic techniques. He is part of the team that was bringing edgy, high-brow graphics back in 2010 — with a style some like to call the “new ugly”. These graphics pieces are hang tag or posters on the wall or type on the window. His works normally include bright colors, more hypercolor, and bold line work.

Steph Miller is a New York-based artist and designer specializing in fashion and custom apparel, including painted leather jackets for major brands. Her Tumblr blog, Hotfreaks, acts as a portfolio for her mixed-media projects and visual inspirations.

Graphic designer David Wise studied a bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Painting and Digital Media but it wasn’t until the summer before his senior year that he was formally introduced to graphic design. David’s work is an amalgamation of imagery, texture and typography, which he treats in an illustrative manor to create compelling and, at times, chaotic compositions. Text is reorganised and imagery reconstructed to present the content in a new way. This aesthetic is not a stylistic choice however as much as an approach, disposition or methodology. Printed matter plays a big part in David’s practice.
