No. 9: Lucern

Noël Leu and Thierry Blancpain founded Grilli Type in Switzerland in late 2009 as a collaborative avenue for working with other designers. Although the foundry is based in Lucerne, we’re active on a global scale. Thierry now lives in New York City, and Noël travels extensively, ricocheting between East Asia, North America, and Europe. The studio now numbers eight, with colleagues dispersed across the globe.

Erich Brechbühl [Mixer] is a Lucerne based independent graphic designer focused on poster and corporate design.
He was born on the 3rd of October 1977, and grew up in Sempach, Switzerland. In 1990, at the age of 13, he started his career with the foundation of Mix Pictures, an organisation for short film productions and cultural events. After a typography apprenticeship near Lucerne [1994-1998], he became an apprentice graphic designer at the studio of Niklaus Troxler in Willisau [1998-2002]. Subsequently, he founded his own graphic design studio Mixer in Lucerne. In 2009 he was co-founder of the Weltformat Graphic Design Festival in Lucerne and started the regular exchange meeting for graphic designers called Show & Tell in 2012.

Peng Peng is a Swiss studio for visual communication. Working closely with our clients, we develop ideas and their implementation with a strong commitment to content, narrative, and visual quality. Founded in 2008, we specialize in editorial design, posters, websites, corporate design, and exhibition design.

Studio Feixen is a small Design Studio based in Lucerne, Switzerland that creates visual concepts. We focus specifically on nothing in particular. Whether it’s graphic design, interior design, fashion design, type design or animation – as long as it challenges us – we are interested.
