Roman Klonek is a contemporary artist based in Düsseldorf, Germany, widely recognized for his mastery of the woodcut. His practice is defined by a unique fusion of traditional printmaking techniques and a modern, pop-influenced aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from 1950s Eastern European cartoons, folklore, and Japanese "kaiju" culture, Klonek creates a whimsical and often bizarre universe populated by awkward creatures and bold, geometric landscapes.

His work is characterized by vibrant, layered colors and a distinctively clean, graphic quality that belies the labor-intensive nature of the woodcut process. Beyond his extensive gallery exhibitions and personal print series, Klonek has applied his signature style to high-profile commercial and editorial projects for clients such as The New York Times, The Guardian, and Google. He is also the author of several catalogs, including the recent Friends We Made Along The Way.
