This RISO CLUB archive edition features four original risograph artworks from RISOTTOPIA, curated by RISOTTO founder, Gabriella Marcella. For this milestone edition, Gabriella stepped outside the Club’s usual city-by-city format and instead invited four of her design heroes to take part, making it a very special issue shaped by personal influence, admiration and creative joy.

Each Postcard Set is printed by hand using layered colour separations and rich soy-based inks on recycled paper. Each design explores the playful textures and colour overlays unique to risograph printing.

Peter Shire (b. 1947) is a prolific Los Angeles-based artist and a founding member of the influential Milan-based Memphis Group. Born and raised in Echo Park, where he still maintains his studio, Shire’s practice famously subverts the modernist "form follows function" dogma with irreverent humor and vibrant, primary colors.

His multidisciplinary body of work spans ceramics, furniture, and large-scale metal sculpture, often blurring the lines between fine art and industrial design. Notably, his "geometric teapots" and the iconic Bel Air chair remain landmarks of postmodern design. Shire’s work is held in permanent collections worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and LACMA.

Nathalie Du Pasquier (b. 1957) is a French-born, Milan-based artist and designer best known as a founding member of the Memphis Group. During the 1980s, her vibrant textiles and iconic "decorated surfaces" helped define the movement's postmodern aesthetic. In 1987, she shifted her primary focus to painting, exploring the relationship between objects and the spaces they inhabit. Her multidisciplinary practice now bridges fine art and design, characterized by bold geometric forms and complex color relationships. Her work has been exhibited at institutions like ICA Philadelphia and the Palais de Tokyo, and she continues to collaborate with brands like HAY and Hermès.

Barbara Stauffacher Solomon (1928–2024) was a pioneering American graphic designer and landscape architect who famously fused Swiss Modernism with West Coast "California Cool." After early training as a dancer, she studied under Armin Hofmann at the Basel School of Design, where she mastered the rigorous Swiss International Style and helped introduce the Helvetica typeface to the United States. She is most celebrated for inventing "supergraphics"—large-scale, bold geometric paintings that transform architectural spaces. Her iconic work at The Sea Ranch in the 1960s, including the famous ram’s head logo and vibrant interior graphics, remains a landmark of postmodern design. Throughout her eight-decade career, she balanced a multidisciplinary practice involving painting, writing, and landscape architecture. Her work is held in the permanent collections of institutions like SFMOMA and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
